2023 Masters Odds: Our Favorite Picks, Best Bets and More

Our team of golf handicappers at BNB Bet Club dedicates extensive hours to analyzing the PGA and European Tour fields ahead of each week’s golf tournaments. With large field sizes and a need to delve deep into the latest golf statistics, player news, schedules, weather, pin positions, and course form, it’s a time-consuming task.

Moreover, with over a hundred golfers starting on day one of a tournament, it’s a sport in which many bettors place multiple bets on various daily and tournament markets, including each-way plays. That’s why we’ve created our Golf Best Bets page as an ideal starting point for your golf bets. Our page provides a focused selection of our weekly golf bets, tailored to the tournament of the week.

All our golf best bets are free of charge and accompanied by a comprehensive analysis of why our experts favor that specific bet, including crucial player stats like previous course form, recent performance, and significant trends that underpin our selection. Discover the best golf bets of the day on our page, right here and right now.

What Are Our Golf Best Bets

As the 2023 Masters approaches, it’s time to make our best bet picks. Our expert golf betting analysts have done all the research and have you covered with outright best bets, props, and matchups. Read on for our tournament preview and favorite Masters best bet picks.

Expert Masters Best Bet Pick Analyst Opinion

Our team has been analyzing all the Masters form, trends, stats, and odds worldwide, and our golf betting specialists have found their 2023 Masters picks. Across sportsbooks, Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler sit atop the outright board, with Jon Rahm not far behind. Some of our experts are high on the Spaniard, while others believe that McIlroy will finally win the Masters he so desperately wants and be given that elusive green jacket this Sunday. While it’s hard to overlook defending champion Scheffler, who won The Players last month and just lost out in a place in the Match Play final a few weeks ago, we are backing the form, history, and data for our picks.

Trend That Guides Your Betting Strategy

When it comes to betting at Augusta National, longshots don’t tend to cash tickets. Over the past decade, according to golfodds.com, winners have held average pre-tournament odds of 27.1-1, with the longest being Matsuyama at 60-1 (+6000).

While it doesn’t mean another Charl Schwartzel can’t happen, it does mean it’s an unlikely scenario. We recommend focusing on capable players in the mid-range from the teens even out to +5000, where we will build a card of four to five players with the hopes they can beat the favorites this week.

Aguiar’s Model

One of the areas we focused on when building our model was the combination of greens in regulation percentage and around the green returns. The multiple-tiered layout of this complex can spell disaster for any golfer that finds themselves missing greens and struggling to salvage par once committing those errors.

2023 MASTERS AUGUSTA, Ga

Every year, critics start grousing about the snubs from all-star lists, and we expect the same with our 2023 Masters top 10 power ranking out of the entire field. You’re bound to see players who you believe are too low or maybe not featured at all. But let’s remember, it’s a numbers game. So, let’s get on with the experts best pick predictions.

The Favorites

Our top three favorites to win the 2023 Masters are Rory McIlroy, Jon Rahm, and Dustin Johnson.

The Mid-Range Picks

We have five mid-range picks, including Patrick Cantlay, Viktor Hovland, Brooks Koepka, Collin Morikawa, and Xander Schauffele.

The Longshots

Our two longshot picks are Matthew Wolff and Kevin Na.

Masters 2023 Best Bet Pick Conclusion

While there may be some chalky picks, it’s unlikely that we won’t have a longshot or two somewhere in the mix. We hope our 2023 Masters best bets and rankings have helped you in your betting strategy.

Good luck, enjoy a great weekend of Masters golf and happy punting.

2023 Masters Preview: Power Ranking Top 10 (Plus Odds to Win)

Pick: Jon Rahm +950

Outright Winner (short odds)

One player to win the tournament: Jon Rahm (+900)

Unless we’re in a Tiger-like period of utter domination, the way we answer the question of, “Who’s the best golfer in the world right now?” probably says more about us than them.

Some might simply look at this from a what-have-you-done-for-me-lately perspective, in which case Scheffler is the likely reply. Others might consider it a query of which player wins if they’re all playing their best, which could very well be McIlroy.

Others, however, can view this as a question regarding which player scares you the most to fade – the guy about whom you’ll be kicking yourself if you leave him off the card. For me, that player is Rahm.

Despite three wins already this year, he’s somehow slid down to third on most oddsmakers’ boards, logically behind Scheffler, but perhaps not so logically behind McIlroy, who appeared a bit lost before his third-place finish at the WGC-Match Play.

I’m sure Rahm himself couldn’t care less about this number, so I’m not implying this is some sort of motivational justification. Instead, consider it a nod to the fickle world of golf prognostications, where a player who ranks third in strokes gained tee-to-green, fourth in approach, 17th around the greens, 12th in putting and – you guessed it – first in strokes gained total can actually offer a modicum of value at a single-digit outright price.

With four top-10s and nothing worse than T-27 in six career Masters starts, Rahm is everything we’re looking for in a potential winner this week.

Pick: Jon Rahm +950

Outright Winner (Long odds)

One player to win the tournament: Shane Lowry (+6000)

Maybe it took him a few spins around Augusta National to figure it out, maybe his confidence was bolstered after winning his lone career major. Whatever the case, there remains a specific line of demarcation in Lowry’s performances at the Masters.

Prior to winning the Claret Jug in 2019, he’d posted a T-39 and three MCs in four career starts. Since that victory, he’s chronologically finished 25th, 21st and T-3 – the last of which occurred last year, when he posted a pair of sub-70 scores to continually climb the leaderboard. Much of that was due to a short game and putting display which each ranked fourth among those who played all four rounds.

If his iron game – which was well below the field average that week – is up to his usual standards, there’s no reason why Lowry can’t contend here once again.

Our Best Bets for the Masters 2023

The Masters is one of the most prestigious golf tournaments of the year, and now the 2023 edition approaches, so it’s time to look at some of the best bets for the event. Here are our top picks for the 2023 tournament, including why they’re worth betting on and what their chances are of winning. We also have a list of not this time around!

Best Bet Winner Pick: Jon Rahm +950

Jon Rahm is a top pick for the Masters, despite already having three wins this year and still being ranked third on most oddsmakers’ boards. Despite this, he ranks third in Strokes Gained: Tee-to-Green, fourth in approach, 17th around the greens, 12th in putting, and first in strokes gained total. With four top-10s and nothing worse than T-27 in six career Masters starts, Rahm is a potential winner this week.

Pick: Jon Rahm +950

Prop Bet Justin Rose — Top Englishman (+350)

Justin Rose is an excellent pick for the Top Englishman market at +350 on BetRivers. With two runner-up finishes and three more top-12s in his last eight appearances at Augusta, he is well-equipped to perform well at the Masters. Rose’s resurgence in 2023, which started with a win at Pebble Beach and a top-10 finish at The Players, makes him a solid choice for this market. Rose is up against just four other Englishmen in this market, and with Matthew Fitzpatrick out of form and Tyrrell Hatton’s history of frustrations with Augusta National, Rose’s chances are good.

Pick: Justin Rose — Top Englishman (+350)

Alternative Winner Pick: Patrick Cantlay +2000

2. Patrick Cantlay is an excellent choice for the Masters, with metrics that are through the roof once again, especially his tee-to-green ball-striking numbers. While he has struggled at majors in the past, last year he made some strides with a T14 at the U.S. Open and an eighth-place finish at The Open. In his past 24 rounds, the 31-year-old ranks sixth in Strokes Gained: Total and first in Strokes Gained: Off the Tee. Playing from the fairway is an excellent way to avoid trouble at Augusta, and he has a stellar short game to complement his driving prowess. Cantlay is an excellent putter, and Bentgrass has been his preferred surface throughout his career.

Pick: Patrick Cantlay +2000

Other Top Picks

  1. Jordan Spieth (+1800): Spieth is always exciting to watch, with a recent habit of holing short-sided pitch shots or 50-foot putts, but he can also miss a 5-footer.
  2. Scottie Scheffler (+650): Scheffler is riding a heater, having finished 1st-4th-4th in his last three title defenses. Serious course horse vibes.
  3. Sungjae Im (+4500): Im is building towards something special, having finished 21st or better in six of his last eight starts, and owns a runner-up and eighth place among his last three Masters starts.

2023 Masters Picks and Predictions – Not This Time or Not Yet At Least!

Rory McIlroy (+700)

Rory McIlroy is a familiar name at the Masters, having never won the tournament but always in the running for the top spot. In the past nine years, he has placed 2nd, 4th, 5th (twice), 7th, 8th, and 10th. While he may be a popular choice for pool picks, those looking to bet on him outright should wait until at least the second round or the weekend to see if his number gets longer.

Patrick Cantlay (+1800)

Patrick Cantlay may not have the best Masters record, with only a T-9 in 2019 as his lone top-10 finish, but his recent iron play has been impressive. In his last four starts, he has been almost a full stroke per round better than the field average, with two top-fives, three top-10s, and all four inside the top-20.

Cameron Smith (+2200) / Dustin Johnson (+2500)

Cameron Smith and Dustin Johnson are both strong choices for those in season-long One and Done pools, with Smith owning four top-10s in his last five Masters starts and Johnson having six finishes of 12th or better in his last seven starts at Augusta. Those looking for a higher-risk/higher-reward play may want to consider Joaquin Niemann or Brooks Koepka.

Patrick Reed (+5500)

Patrick Reed is another LIV Golf regular who shouldn’t be overlooked, especially after his recent third-place finish at a LIV event. As the 2018 champion, Reed has the experience and skill to climb the leaderboard throughout the week.

Sungjae Im (+3500)

Sungjae Im may not be as well-known as some of the other top players, but he has been building towards a big moment over the past year. With a T-21 at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, T-6 at The Players, and T-17 at the WGC-Match Play, Im could be a slightly contrarian pick against the big names, especially in pools with multiple selections.

Masters 2023 Betting Conclusion

With the 2023 Masters approaching, there are plenty of top picks to consider when betting on the event. Jon Rahm, Justin Rose, and Patrick Cantlay are all excellent choices. Next we focus on that, not this time betting.
