2023 MLB World Series Predictions: Orioles Rising in the American League

|

The Wild Card round of the MLB playoffs wrapped up swiftly, with all four series ending in just two games, leaving fans craving for more excitement. As we transition to the Divisional round, where each team enjoys home-field advantage and plays a best-of-five series, the stakes are higher, and the anticipation is palpable. Before the next round kicks off, let’s delve into the MLB World Series odds and identify the best bets for the remainder of the playoffs, including a tempting +750 pick.

MLB World Series Odds

Here are the latest MLB World Series odds from KasinoBets.com Sportsbook:

  • Atlanta Braves +270
  • Los Angeles Dodgers +440
  • Houston Astros +450
  • Baltimore Orioles +700
  • Philadelphia Phillies +800
  • Minnesota Twins +850

Two key distinctions set the Divisional round apart from the Wild Card round. Firstly, it’s now a best-of-five series, adding complexity and excitement. Secondly, both teams get to experience the thrill of playing in front of their home crowd, with at least one home game guaranteed.

MLB Playoffs Best Bets

Baltimore Orioles vs. Texas Rangers ALDS Winner: Baltimore Orioles (-105)

This ALDS matchup between the Baltimore Orioles and the Texas Rangers is a standout bet in the Divisional round. The Orioles have multiple advantages heading into Game 1 at Camden Yards. Firstly, they get the privilege of hosting the opening two games of the series, and home-field advantage can be a game-changer, especially at venues known for their passionate fans, such as Camden Yards.

When it comes to probable pitchers, Orioles’ manager Brandon Hyde has kept his plans under wraps, but it’s highly likely that Kyle Bradish will be the Game 1 starter for Baltimore. Bradish, who posted a 2.83 ERA in 30 starts during the season, excelled at home with a 2.23 ERA and limited opposing hitters to a .199 batting average. On the Rangers’ side, they’re likely to turn to Dane Dunning, a reliever-turned-starter, given that their primary starters, Jordan Montgomery and Nathan Eovaldi, were used in the Wild Card round. This matchup sets the stage for a Game 1 win for the Orioles.

Looking ahead to Game 2, the Orioles have options like Grayson Rodriguez and John Means. Rodriguez, with his 2.58 ERA in 13 starts, seems like a strong choice, especially if they aim to have the rookie pitch in a less hostile environment. Means, who performed impressively on the road in his two starts after returning, is another dependable option.

Considering the uncertainty surrounding Max Scherzer and Jon Gray’s return from injuries, the Orioles have a favorable path to success in this series. If they can secure a 2-0 series lead and have Means on the mound for Game 3 in Arlington, they’ll be in an excellent position to close it out. Even if it goes to Game 4, the Rangers would have to rely on less reliable starters like Cody Bradford or Andrew Heaney. With smart planning, the Orioles have a strong chance to win the series in four games.

MLB World Series Dream Matchup: Baltimore Orioles vs. Atlanta Braves (+750)

Currently available at KasinoBets.com Sportsbook

Imagine the excitement of a World Series showdown between the Baltimore Orioles and the Atlanta Braves. On one side, you have the Braves, consistently dominant since the start of the season, and on the other, the Orioles, a heartwarming underdog story of the year. This potential matchup has all the makings of an epic clash.

From the very first win of the season, the Braves have signaled their status as the team to beat. Their remarkable offense has shattered records and come tantalizingly close to breaking the season home run record, showcasing the incredible power that runs through their entire lineup. Yet, their offensive prowess extends beyond just power; it’s characterized by a blend of speed and contact. To add to their advantage, the Braves have been well-rested since last weekend, while their NLDS opponent, the Phillies, had to rely on Zack Wheeler and Aaron Nola in their swift Wild Card sweep of the Marlins.

The extended rest period has proved invaluable for Atlanta’s starting rotation. Max Fried faced a blister issue and missed his final regular-season start, while Charlie Morton has been nursing a sprained finger. Although the Braves’ lineup for the NLDS is well-known, their rotation remained uncertain until Morton’s NLDS absence. The trio of Fried, Spencer Strider, and Bryce Elder is set to take the mound for Games 1-3. Should the Braves prevail over the Phillies in the NLDS, there’s no other National League team that instills fear. The Dodgers? They lack the starting pitching depth. The Diamondbacks? Their lineup isn’t strong enough, and their experience is limited.

Now, let’s discuss the scenario in which my initial best bet doesn’t pan out. This futures bet would hinge on the Orioles defeating the Rangers in the ALDS and then triumphing over either the Astros or Twins in the ALCS. Unless the Twins pull off a major upset, I expect the Astros to be Baltimore’s final obstacle on the path to the World Series. Here’s the twist: contrary to popular opinion in Vegas, I view the Orioles as the American League’s top team, not the Astros.

Houston boasts an impressive offense with stars like Yordan Alvarez, Jose Altuve, Alex Bregman, and Kyle Tucker anchoring the lineup. However, the Achilles’ heel lies in the bottom half of their order, with Jose Abreu’s underwhelming season and questions about Martín Maldonado’s batting. While Maldonado is preferred by pitchers like Framber Valdez and Justin Verlander, he’s not known for his hitting prowess. This leads to another concern: outside of Valdez and Verlander, the Astros lack a truly dominant pitcher. Cristian Javier’s performance has been inconsistent, and Jose Urquidy struggles to maintain an ERA below 5. In essence, this isn’t the same formidable Astros team as the previous season. Houston’s reputation may be overestimated, making me believe that Baltimore can dethrone the reigning champions in a six-game showdown.
