Best MLB Parlay Bet 07-02-23

Welcome to The Bet Club and another exciting Sunday of baseball. Let’s recap yesterday’s full MLB slate, which provided plenty of excitement as Major League Baseball took center stage. The American League showcased a couple of massive games, with the Red Sox holding off a late charge from the Blue Jays to secure a 7-6 victory, while the Rangers defeated the Astros 5-2 in an AL West clash. In other matchups, the Royals upset the Dodgers, and the Yankees and Cardinals split a day-night doubleheader.

These results continued our Best Bets’ impressive streak, bringing our MLB YRFI/NRFI plays to 8-1-1. Let’s carry that momentum into today’s games and Parlay bet.

Today’s Slate: 15 MLB Games on Sunday

We have a packed schedule of 15 MLB games today, including the Sunday Night Baseball matchup between the San Francisco Giants and New York Mets at Citi Field. For all of today’s MLB predictions, be sure to read on.

Sunday Night Baseball Parlay Bet: San Francisco Giants vs. New York Mets

As we put a bow on another week in Major League Baseball, the Sunday night Game of the Week on ESPN features the San Francisco Giants and New York Mets. This game serves as the rubber match of their 3-game series, as they’ve split the first two contests. Here’s my Same Game Parlay for this National League showdown, and make sure to check out all of our MLB picks.

MLB Same Game Parlay:

  • Giants ML (+110)
  • Under 9 (-120)
  • Thairo Estrada to score a run (+105)
    Parlay odds: +500

Part of the value in same game parlays is that all components can be correlated. In this case, Thairo Estrada scoring a run would work well with a Giants victory. However, plays that aren’t correlated can drive up the overall payout of the parlay. That’s why we’re also backing the under, as even if Estrada crosses the plate, there’s no reason why the under can’t cash. Now, let’s break down each of the three legs.

MLB Leg 1: Giants ML (+110)

The pitching matchup features Ross Stripling of the San Francisco Giants against David Peterson of the New York Mets. Stripling is expected to pitch between 3 to 5 innings before handing it over to the Giants’ strong bullpen. Meanwhile, Peterson has struggled in his last five starts, allowing 21 runs, resulting in four Mets losses. In fact, the Mets have only won two of Peterson’s nine starts this season. It’s worth noting that Peterson gave up seven runs to the Giants back in April. All signs point to a favorable setup for the visitors.

MLB Leg 2: Under 9 (-120)

Peterson’s performances have been inconsistent, but he delivered a scoreless outing in his last appearance against the Brewers. While it’s challenging to envision him completely shutting down San Francisco, the confidence gained from his recent start should help him turn in a respectable effort on Sunday. Additionally, the weather in New York is expected to be rainy, which may limit the flight of the ball. Even without considering the weather, both offenses haven’t been particularly inspiring. They combined for only five runs on Saturday after producing nine in the series opener. With Stripling and the Giants’ relievers playing well, I’m counting on the under.

MLB Leg 3: Thairo Estrada to score a run (+105)

Thairo Estrada holds a lifetime record of 3-for-7 against David Peterson. The second baseman has also been hitting safely in his last two games, and he had a two-hit performance not too long ago (Tuesday at Toronto). Estrada has scored five runs in the last two contests, and considering his recent form and matchup against Peterson and the Mets, I like his chances of crossing the plate at least once more.
