NBA Best Bet Today 10-25-23:

NBA Pick: Oklahoma City Thunder ML over Chicago Bulls (+100) at 8:00 PM ET

Oklahoma City appears poised to be more competitive this season. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is already a star, and they’re introducing last year’s top pick, Chet Holmgren, into the mix. Holmgren’s unique skills are something to be excited about, especially early in the season. The Thunder should be in the playoff picture in the competitive Western Conference this year. On the other hand, Chicago seems to be in a state of uncertainty. DeMar DeRozan, Zach LaVine, and Nikola Vucevic form a productive trio, but the wins haven’t followed. Even though they might not sink to the very bottom of the NBA, Chicago’s future championship prospects may be better served by developing over time. See our full Thunder vs. Bulls predictions.

Today’s Best NBA Prop Bet Picks & Predictions: Anthony Edwards another leap forward:

The 2023-24 NBA season is here, and every Wednesday and Friday, you’ll find player prop articles from me with my favorite 2-5 props on the slate. I recommend keeping the unit size light at the start of the season as many players may not be in game shape, and rotation minutes are still being sorted out. Let’s dive into the first Wednesday slate of the season and my favorite NBA player prop bets. Be sure to also check out our NBA picks for today’s games.

1. NBA Pick: Bennedict Mathurin (IND) over 14.5 points (-125)

This line is below Mathurin’s rookie average of 16.7 ppg, and he’s stepping into a starting role in his second year. The Pacers’ new starting five includes Tyrese Haliburton, Bennedict Mathurin, Bruce Brown, Obi Toppin, and Myles Turner. Jordan Poole and Tyus Jones of the Wizards should provide a favorable matchup for Mathurin. He played just under 26 minutes to reach this line in 75% of his games and 70% of his starts. (0.75U)

2. NBA Pick: Jabari Smith Jr. (HOU) over 13.5 points (-115)

Smith Jr. has made significant strides during the offseason, demonstrated by strong performances in the Summer League with multiple 30+ point games. His preseason play showcased greater comfort in breaking down defenders off the dribble and improved shot creation compared to his rookie year. The confidence he displayed in the preseason is evident. This line is only 1 point above his rookie average of 12.8 ppg. After the All-Star break last season, Smith averaged 16.6 ppg, with high-scoring months in March and April. Expecting Smith to reach nearly 17 ppg this season as a sophomore. (1U)

3. NBA Pick: Anthony Edwards (MIN) over 3.5 assists (-125)

Edwards is now the face of the Timberwolves franchise and coming off a summer as the top player for Team USA in the FIBA World Cup. He averaged 31.6 ppg in the last postseason. With the ball likely to be in his hands more often this season, he should be facilitating the offense when Mike Conley is resting. He hit this line in 58% of the games last regular season and in every playoff game. Expect his assists to rise to 5 this season, especially with a healthy Karl-Anthony Towns boosting his figures. (1U)

Best NBA Parlay Picks and Parlay for Today 10-25-23: 3-Leg Parlay at +801 odds

As the 2023-24 NBA season tipped off with some thrilling Western Conference matchups on Tuesday, the rest of the league is set to embark on their campaigns. A marquee showdown between the Boston Celtics and New York Knicks headlines the action, with other up-and-coming teams like the Thunder and Hawks hitting the court. With a massive slate of NBA games to kick off the season, it’s the perfect time for an NBA parlay.

3-Leg Parlay at +801 odds:

Here are my plays for Wednesday, and make sure to also explore our full range of NBA picks for tonight’s season-opening contests;

  • Parlay Odds: +801
  • Consists of 3 legs: 2 underdog picks on the money line and 1 favorite against the spread

Leg 1: NBA Pick_Atlanta Hawks -3.5 over Charlotte Hornets (-110)

After securing the 7th seed last season, the Atlanta Hawks, led by Trae Young, aim to make a significant leap this year. Under the guidance of head coach Quin Snyder, the Hawks expect big things from players like Onyeka Okongwu. Their chemistry, particularly between Dejounte Murray and Young, is anticipated to be much improved compared to last season. In contrast, the Charlotte Hornets finished the previous season with just 27 wins. While the return of LaMelo Ball from injury is a positive, it’s unlikely he can carry the team alone, given various issues plaguing the Hornets, including injuries and suspensions to key starters. Despite the turmoil in Charlotte, Atlanta looks poised to start the season strong with an efficient offense and better performance. The Hawks have had a 4-1 ATS record in their last 5 matchups against Southeast Division opponents.

Leg 2: NBA Pick_Oklahoma City Thunder ML (+100) over Chicago Bulls

Oklahoma City appears ready to be more competitive in a deep Western Conference. The presence of young star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and the addition of last year’s top pick, Chet Holmgren, make the Thunder a promising team. Chicago, on the other hand, is in a state of uncertainty. While the trio of DeMar DeRozan, Zach LaVine, and Nikola Vucevic has proven productive statistically, it hasn’t translated to many wins. The Bulls not being favored as the home team in their opener reflects the difference in prospects between these two teams. Oklahoma City is a team on the rise, and this game is an opportunity for them to start the season strong with a win.

Leg 3: NBA Pick_New York Knicks ML (+136) over Boston Celtics

The Boston Celtics are considered favorites to win it all after their offseason moves. Starting the season in a challenging away environment against the New York Knicks will provide insight into the Celtics’ mentality. Despite Boston’s talent, they’ve only won 3 of their last 9 games against the Knicks and just once in their last 5 visits to Madison Square Garden. The Knicks tend to perform better in front of their home fans, ending the previous season with 4 wins in 5 home games. With a healthy roster, New York is set to put up a strong fight. Julius Randle, who averages 30 points per game against Boston in their recent meetings, is expected to lead the charge. Let’s take New York to secure the win on their home court.
