Welcome to The Bet Club NFL Carolina Panthers betting guide for 2023.

The Carolina Panthers had a rollercoaster ride in 2022, finishing with a 7-10 record. While there were moments of promise, particularly on the defensive side, the overall Matt Rhule era was a disappointment. Now, the Panthers are pinning their hopes on a new era led by head coach Frank Reich and rookie quarterback Bryce Young, the first overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. Carolina also made some notable offseason acquisitions, raising expectations for the upcoming season.

Are the Panthers poised for their first playoff appearance since 2017? Let’s delve into the odds and best bets for the Carolina Panthers in 2023.

Carolina Panthers 2022 season recap

Matt Rhule’s tenure in Carolina was marked by underwhelming performances, with the Panthers winning just 5 games in each of his first two seasons. The 2022 season started poorly, with a 1-4 record, prompting the front office to make a coaching change, bringing in Steve Wilks as his replacement. Under Wilks, the team showed improvement, finishing the season with a 6-6 record over their final 12 games. Carolina had a chance to contend for the division title if not for a heartbreaking overtime loss to Atlanta and a blown lead against Tampa Bay in Week 17. While the season ended in another losing record, there were glimpses of promise in the team’s late-season performance.

Carolina Panthers 2023 NFL season predictions

The Carolina Panthers made significant changes after enduring five consecutive losing seasons and failing to secure a playoff victory since their Super Bowl appearance in 2015. In early 2022, the team parted ways with head coach Matt Rhule, and they made a substantial move by trading a package of assets, including star wide receiver D.J. Moore and four draft picks (two first-rounders and two second-rounders), to acquire the #1 pick from the Chicago Bears. The message was clear: they expected rookie quarterback Bryce Young to deliver results quickly.

Now, let’s delve into a couple of my predictions for the Carolina Panthers in the 2023 season.

Best bet: Carolina Panthers over 7.5 wins (-120)

Bryce Young certainly carries high expectations as the rookie quarterback for the Carolina Panthers, but the good news is that he doesn’t need to carry the entire team on his shoulders. While he needs to perform well, he may not have to be exceptional right from the start. Carolina showed promise in the 2022 season, and they further strengthened their roster with impactful free-agent acquisitions, especially on the defensive side of the ball. Additionally, the NFC South appears to be one of the weakest divisions in football, and when examining the Panthers’ schedule, they have several winnable home games, even outside of their division. While Young may not necessarily set the league on fire in his first year, the Panthers, as a team, are well-equipped for success, especially with their favorable schedule.

Carolina Panthers season record predictions

Correlating this pick with the prediction of the Carolina Panthers surpassing 7.5 wins is a logical approach. While I also have Atlanta winning the NFC South, I don’t want to be overly ambitious with the Panthers’ win total. At +700 odds, forecasting a 9-8 record presents compelling value, and it doesn’t seem like an unreasonable expectation for a team that seems to be on an upward trajectory.
