Denver Broncos 2022 season recap

In spite of enduring a six-year playoff drought leading up to the 2022 season, there was an air of optimism surrounding the Broncos. The prevalent belief was that their fortunes were intricately tied to their quarterback performance in 2021, and to remedy that, they acquired the services of Russell Wilson. Regrettably, the outcome was far from what anyone had envisioned. Wilson’s performance was subpar, and the first-year head coach, Nathaniel Hackett, exhibited questionable competence at best. Denver managed to secure just five victories throughout the season, making it an understatement of epic proportions to suggest that things didn’t go as planned. Hackett’s tenure with the Broncos didn’t even survive his debut season, as he was relieved of his duties following Week 16 with a dismal 4-11 record.

Denver Broncos 2023 NFL season predictions

According to the odds, Denver appears poised to occupy a spot in the lower echelons of the NFL standings. While Payton’s squad is not anticipated to plummet to the depths of despair seen in the 2022 Broncos, it’s important to temper expectations for a significant turnaround.

Here are a couple of my prognostications related to Denver for the impending season.

Best bet: Denver Broncos Under 8.5 wins (-110)

The transition from Hackett to Payton undoubtedly carries a positive outlook for the franchise. However, when it comes to the immediate future, the prospect of a massive turnaround may be more challenging to achieve. The roster remains largely similar to last year’s, and the absence of a first-round draft pick, traded to the Saints for Payton’s acquisition, presents a hurdle. To see a four-win improvement, Wilson would need to significantly elevate his performance, and considering his career stage and the average talent surrounding him, such a leap might not be in the cards for the 2023 season.

Furthermore, when looking at the schedule, the Broncos are faced with daunting challenges, including two matchups against the formidable Chiefs and road games against the Bills, Lions, and Dolphins. Given these factors, taking the “under” appears to be a reasonable bet for the upcoming season.

Denver Broncos season record predictions

Taking a shot on the Broncos finishing the season at exactly 8-9 with odds of +600 seems like a tempting proposition, especially if you’re cautiously optimistic about the team’s performance. It’s a reasonable middle-ground bet that could pay off if they hover around the .500 mark.

Additionally, placing a wager on the Broncos losing in the divisional round of the playoffs at +450 could offer decent value, assuming they make it to the postseason. Considering they might secure a wild card spot and face a tough road matchup, this bet aligns with a realistic playoff scenario.

Ultimately, these bets reflect a balanced approach to the Broncos’ potential outcomes for the season, offering opportunities for both modest gains and a potentially more significant payoff if things align in their favor.
