Thursday’s slate features several key matchups, with teams on both sides of the playoff bubble vying for position. A couple of early games will set the stage for a solid night of baseball.

MLB YRFI/NRFI Best Bets for Thursday 9/21

Expert on a 33-15 Run!

With so many MLB games taking place each day, one of the quickest bets you can make is whether or not a run will be scored in the first inning. I’m on a 33-15 run with my YRFI/NRFI picks, so let’s keep this momentum going!

MLB Pick_Toronto Blue Jays vs New York Yankees: NRFI (-125)

I’m going with the NRFI in this matchup between the Toronto Blue Jays and New York Yankees. The Blue Jays need to keep winning to keep pace with the other American League Wild Card hopefuls, and Jose Berrios gives them a great chance to do so. He’s surrendered just four earned runs over 20 innings pitched in September. He’ll be opposed by Gerrit Cole, who is still very good, even in a down year for the Yankees. Cole holds a 2.81 ERA with eight quality starts over his last 10 outings. Look for both pitchers to set the tone early in what should be another quick inning at Yankee Stadium.

MLB Pick_Los Angeles Angels vs Tampa Bay Rays: NRFI (-130)

I’m also going with the NRFI in this matchup between the Los Angeles Angels and Tampa Bay Rays. The Angels are just trying to get this nightmare season over with. Injuries to Mike Trout and Shohei Ohtani crushed their slim playoff hopes earlier this summer, and they’re limping to the finish line of another disappointing campaign. Don’t expect their depleted lineup to suddenly get hot against Zach Eflin, who holds a 3.03 xERA, .271 xWOBA, and a walk rate that is in the top 1% of all pitchers. On the other side, Griffin Canning’s peripherals aren’t spectacular on paper, but his much lower xERA of 3.97 suggests he’s better than the raw numbers suggest. Expect a scoreless opening frame at the Trop.

I’m on a hot streak with my YRFI/NRFI picks, and I’m confident that these two picks will continue the trend. Both matchups feature two very good starting pitchers who are capable of shutting down opposing offenses in the first inning.

MLB Parlay

Pick #1: Milwaukee Brewers ML & Over 8.5 (+250) Pick #2: Toronto Blue Jays ML & Under 7.5 (+290)

Pick #1: The Brewers are a better team than the Cardinals and have been playing better baseball lately. They are also the home team in this game. The over has also been hitting in a lot of Brewers and Cardinals games recently.

Pick #2: The Blue Jays are also a better team than the Yankees and have been playing better baseball lately. They are also getting plus money in this game. The under has also been appealing in games started by Jose Berrios and Gerrit Cole.

Overall, this parlay offers great value. Both picks are logical and have a good chance of hitting.
