The long-awaited NBA season kicks off in Denver on Tuesday night, with the reigning champions, the Nuggets, set to celebrate their championship win and receive their rings in a ceremony at Ball Arena. They’ll be hosting the Lakers, who they swept 4-0 in the Western Conference Finals last season. The game tips off at 7:30 PM ET on TNT.

Tuesday Same Game NBA Picks and Parlay: LA Lakers vs Denver Nuggets on 10-24-24

Let’s explore my Same Game Picks and Parlay, but be sure to bookmark our NBA predictions for insights into every game of the 2023-24 NBA season.

1. Expert NBA Parlay Pick: LA Lakers +4.5 (-110)

The Lakers enter this season with renewed motivation after last year’s Western Conference Finals defeat to the Nuggets. They’ve reinforced their depth with the additions of Gabe Vincent, Jaxson Hayes, and Taurean Prince, with no significant departures to date. Although they’ve had little success at Ball Arena recently, going 1-6 in their last 7 visits, promising signs have emerged from Darvin Ham’s team during the preseason. Additionally, they are driven to prove that last season’s series could have gone in their favor.

The Nuggets finished their preseason with a 3-2 record, with Nikola Jokic delivering an impressive performance in the final game against the Clippers. Jamal Murray, who is now fully healthy, enters the season. However, there are potential absentees for the Nuggets, with Michael Porter Jr. and Christian Braun listed as game-time decisions. Combined with the depth players they lost in the offseason, the Nuggets may start the season a bit slowly. The emotional impact of the ring ceremony could also be a factor, giving the Lakers a chance in the season opener. So, I’m taking LA to cover.

2. NBA Parlay Pick: LeBron James to record 6+ rebounds (-310)

In his 21st season in the NBA, LeBron James, despite approaching 39 years of age, has much to prove. Last season, he played just 55 games, tying the second-lowest mark of his career. On Tuesday night, he becomes only the 6th player in NBA history to play 21 seasons and also the league’s oldest player. Despite the wear and tear on his body, James consistently excelled in rebounding last season, averaging 8.3 boards per game. He elevated that performance during the postseason, averaging 9.9 rebounds in 16 games. He easily cleared the 6+ rebounds line in all four Western Conference Finals games against Denver. In his last five regular-season games against the Nuggets, he has averaged 8.2 rebounds while surpassing this line in each game. Let’s back these trends to continue in the season opener.

3. NBA Parlay Pick: Jamal Murray to score 20+ points (-175)

Jamal Murray played a pivotal role in the Nuggets’ postseason run, increasing his scoring from 20 points per game to 26.1 in 20 playoff games. He posted impressive shooting splits of 47% from the field, nearly 40% from beyond the arc, and over 92% from the free-throw line. Murray excelled against the Lakers, averaging 32.5 points per game, with his lowest output being 25 points in Game 4. He has also dominated the Lakers in regular-season matchups, averaging 23.2 points per game in their last five meetings and failing to clear this 20-point line only once. With the possibility of Michael Porter Jr. being absent in the opener on Tuesday, Murray may need to shoulder more of the scoring load, making this a sound bet.

4. NBA Parlay Pick: Nikola Jokic over 0.5 made threes (-188)

The reigning NBA Finals MVP has a streak of three consecutive games against the Lakers with at least one three-pointer scored in the regular season. He closed out last season by making at least one trey in all five NBA Finals games against Miami, while in the series against the Lakers before that, he failed to do so in only one of the four games. Jokic boasts an impressive 46.1% shooting efficiency from beyond the arc during the 2023 NBA Playoffs, and this carried over to the preseason. He scored at least one three-pointer in three of the four preseason games, concluding with a 3-for-6 night against the LA Clippers in a victory. The Lakers have struggled to contain him, with Jokic shooting at 64% from the field in their last five regular-season meetings. While he could potentially hit multiple threes, we’ll go with just one for added security.
