NHL Playoffs First Round Series Previews, Predictions, and Best Bets for the 2022-2023 playoffs – the NHL regular season provided plenty of excitement and memorable moments. However, now is the time that all hockey fans have been waiting for – the NHL playoffs. Even if your favorite team did not make it, this postseason is shaping up to be an unforgettable one. The Eastern Conference is as competitive as it has been in a long time, and the Western Conference features the reigning Stanley Cup Champion and the best player on the planet.

Get ready for a historic and thrilling NHL postseason that you cannot afford to miss! Among the eight series that kick off on Monday, we have highlighted some of our favorite series bets among the Rangers-Devils, Islanders-Hurricanes, Kings-Oilers, and Jets-Golden Knights.

New York Rangers (#3) vs New Jersey Devils (#2) series prediction

This series is arguably the most highly anticipated of these playoffs. The Devils broke multiple franchise records this season and likely would have won the Atlantic if the season had been just one or two games longer. New Jersey finished fourth in the NHL in goals scored per game and eighth in goals allowed per game. They are young, fast, and deep, which means the Rangers will have their work cut out for them.

The Rangers, however, are no slouches. They are essentially the same team that made it to the Conference Finals last season, but with some notable additions, such as Vladimir Tarasenko and Patrick Kane. With four Stanley Cups between them, the Rangers have the depth and pedigree to make a deep run in these playoffs. Both teams are familiar with each other, loaded with talent, and located just 13 miles apart, meaning both fanbases will travel well. Fans are in for a treat, as this series is likely to go the distance.

Best NHL Bet: Series Total Games: 7 (+200)

New York Islanders (WC1) vs Carolina Hurricanes (#1) series prediction

The Islanders and Hurricanes are surprisingly similar, given that one is a division winner and the other a wild card team. Both teams excel in preventing goals, but neither is particularly prolific on offense. They have good penalty kills but weaker power plays, and they both perform well in the faceoff circle. The theme of this series will be possession and containment, which is how both teams have achieved success this season.

Given the teams’ similar styles and strengths, there will not be much room for error in this series. The Islanders have been playing playoff hockey for weeks as they fought for this wild card spot. On the other hand, the Hurricanes have not been in their best form leading up to the playoffs. There is a realistic chance the Islanders could win this series outright. Regardless, this should be a close series.

Best NHL Bet Pick: Islanders +1.5 Series Spread (-130)

Los Angeles Kings (#3) vs Edmonton Oilers (#2) series prediction

Despite not finishing atop the Western Conference standings, the Oilers could be the best team in the conference. They played incredibly well in the second half of the season, winning nine consecutive games to close out the regular season with just one regulation loss since March 11. They are 14-0-1 in their last 15 games and boast the best player on the planet, along with a strong supporting cast.

Historically, the Oilers have been successful by winning high-scoring games, as their goal prevention has not been particularly impressive. However, they ended the season allowing two goals or fewer in six of their last seven games. Although the Kings are a solid team, this series is likely to be all Edmonton.

Best NHL Bet Pick: Oilers -1.5 Series Spread (-110)
